Drive wont burn Verbatim CD-R 52x Disc?

Hi I just bought some brand new Verbatim CD-R 52x Discs and every time I try to make an audio CD it refuses to burn on the discs for some reason. I have other CD-R discs which burn fine? but they have speeds of 2x/4x so I'm not sure whats happening. I tried burning the discs at different speeds but nothing, also its worth noting my drive doesn't let me burn the discs above 8x and just in case my laptop model is hpdv6920ea.

Can some tell me how I can get these discs to burn?

Here's an image of what happens..

Thanks!

Any idea what drive is in there?

Also, do you have the ID codes for the media? Knowing what country the discs are made in may help too.

Hi, how do I find out what drive I have in my laptop? and how do you find out the ID codes for the CDs? is it on the paper that's wrapped around the CD holder because I threw that away Just yesterday. :(

Sorry for being such a noob I have no idea about these things.

It should say in the device manager. The software you're using probably has it listed too. Otherwise download and run CD Speed (http://www.cdrlabs.com/View-details/Mis ... .7.16.html). You can use that to check the disc info too.

The UJ-120 writes to CD-R and CD-RW media at only 8x. Still not sure why it doesn't like Verbatim discs though. Might be worth looking for a firmware update.
