Anyone else have one of these? I know Sanyo's not as popular as they used to be, but a company shipped me a FireWire/USB 2.0 drive based on the Sanyo design. This thing smokes. 48 CD read and DAE speeds. We might have. The writing times are faster than the Lite-On and TEAC drives too. I might just have to buy an IDE version.

What is its rewrite speed? Is it 40x10x48 or 40x12x48?

What companies are using the Sanyo BP-1700P?

I believe TDK is for the CyClone (maybe some veloCD's too? I know they were initially Lite-On's) and the one I'm testing.. the USB 2.0/FireWire drive from APS.

Does anyone have a "tweaked" firmware for this TDK drive (CDRW 401248UEX)? Good 'ol TDK has not issued an firmware update for this drive and it SUCKS with 99min CDs (basically throws up all over them)---it has to improve with an update. Plus there's probably a lot of refinement after 4 updates. There is a now 1.05 version for the Sanyo equivalent (BP-1700P) that should work with an ID string hack. Does anyone have this firmware tweaked for the TDK drive or the instructions on how to do it with a hex editor?
