All of a sudden both my Liteon 40125s and my 10x dvd drive wont work. Both are found by windows(XP Pro) but with an explanation mark next to them. When I goto properties it says

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I tried to uninstall both and and reboot. Windows found um again but with the same prob. Also, both drives are on diffrent IDE channels. One is on IDE2 and the other is on a PCI IDE card. I tried to reinstall the drivers but it got: Windows copuld not find a better driver......blah blah blah

I also tried del all registry entrys in regueads to these 2 but didnt do anything.

I had a similar problem and this fix worked perfectly.

And if this fix doesn't work well enouh for you, type cdgone into google and look at some of the links..

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I d/l'ed the file and ran it and then rebooted. It didnt work at first. I then uninstalled the the drives and ran the .exe, rebooted and BOOM! It workd!!!!

I was having bad dreams of having to re-install Windows!!!
