To kick off the week, we've taken a look at CyberDrive's new 52/24/52 CD-RW drive, the CW099D. Featuring some of the fastest speeds available, the CW099D reads and writes at 52x and is the first writer from CyberDrive to feature 24x rewriting speeds. This budget priced drive also has features like a 2MB buffer, Super Link buffer underrun protection and support for the Mt. Rainier format.

In this review we take a look at some of the features found on the CW099D and then put it up against the 52x writers from ASUS and CenDyne. How does CyberDrive's new writer stack up? Is it the best bang for your buck? You'll have to read the review to find out.

Hello!

Little disappointed, it´s only with a few CD-R´s faster than my 088D

I agree. I'm hoping that it supports more media in the future.

Hello!

The drive has problems with Ritek-media (Maxell 40x). Is the lead-out of this media 70f, 73f or 74f?

The media you have tested with this drive except the CMC and Ritek discs (the media you don´t have a picture from WSES or Nero CD Quality check), do they worked fine?

Only answer, if you got time, Ian ;)

None of the above. These are 74 minute discs.

ATIP Lead-in = 97m 31s 07f
Nominal Capacity = 656.69MB (74m 45s 01f)

If I remember right, the other media worked fine.

Scour, there's a new firmware out for the CW099D.

http://www.cyberdrive.de/down/cw099_130m.zip

Supposedly it supports more media. I haven't tried it yet.

Hello!

Thanks, Ian :)

In the readme was written :

1. Advance the MRW performance.
2. Modify Tray in/out
3. Add new disk write table.
4. Enhance 8cm disk playability.
5. Enhance RW disk playability.

But there´s no new list of writing speeds eith 130m for media avaible

Good. They needed to do that.
