Well, I actually got a new system as well. Nothing is wrong with the drive, since I have tried it on my old system and it works.

My new system is :
P4 2.4 GHz
Asus P4S533-VM motherboard with the SIS chipset for controllers
Windows XP Pro.

I have updated the motherboard bios, IDE controller drivers, all other motherboard drivers.

Yes, DMA is ON.

The problem is this, when I try to burn with Nero, I get this message:
- PLEXTOR CDR PX-W4824A
Could not perform Fixation
- Burn Process failed

By the way, this is the newest version of Nero (5.5.10)

Also, when I try to benchmark the drive with CDSpeed, after I insert a blank cd, I get this error message when I start the test:
- Error!
COMMAND SEQUENCE ERROR (0520C00)

I mean WTF??? I dont get these messages on my other computer. Anyone might know why?? Could it be IDE drivers? could it be my motherboard??

Please Help!!! :( :( :(

Thanks!

yes.
it is your motherboard.
or more specifically, it is the SIS chipset, or rather the SIS drivers.

look at these threads:
P4S533 and Plextor, not happy?
Plextor PX-4012TA Problems on New System

it appears as Plextor and SIS do not play nicely toghether...

a few more threads with (possible) SIS problems:

Ya, its my damn SIS Chipset mobo. The funny thing is that my Plextor 40X works great, its just that my Plextor 48X doesnt work at all!!

Unlike that other thread posted, his Plextor 40X didnt work.

Anyways, I talked to the computer shop where I purchased my comp, they agreed to let me switch motherboards. I have the Asus P4B533 in mind, which uses the Intel chipset.

Any suggestions on a different model, or is that one good??

i haven't read up on chipsets and motherboards in a long time so i can't be of much help.
isn't the P4B533 based on Intel's Brookdale chipset? 845E or something?
i believe it's a pretty good mobo. i like Asus (have one myself).

Go for ASUS P4PE, which is a successor to P4B533 and has the improved 845PE chipset.
