Hello!

Thanks for the answer

Teac had 2 green LED´s, but the CD-W 552 have a red LED on the left, like Asus

Teac´s tray close/open very fast, the Asus-tray slow.

That say´s, that the new Teac´s are made by Asus

You got the drive, Han? Is it good?

No, a friend has it. He says the drive is quite good, but there are issues with burning above 16x speed. Probably because of the firmware, which is very limited regarding high speed media. Furthermore, there's a bug in conjunction with Nero, which seals the tray after a successful burn. You have to restart the system to get the disc out... WinOnCD, on the other hand, works fine.

I have the drive and no issues. No issues with Nero, WinOnCD, CloneCD, VCDEasy.

In my opinion, its a very good drive, better as the former LiteOn 48125w I had. The results are better.

CDR which the TEAC can write very fast and without issues:

Tayo Yuden (48x), TDK (Ritek) (48x), Prodisk (48x), CMC (48x), Verbatim (40x), Mitsui (40x) for Example --> No Errors (Nero write Quality)

CDR which are not listed in his Firmware:
for Example:
India Moser Baer (16x)
SKC (16x)

The best drive, I ever had. Better than TEAC 524E, LiteOn 48125w.

(sorry for my bad English)

Cu P.

You can see in the CDR-Info's review that Teac differs from Asus in almost every single test...

It's slow. The leds on 548E are, to my best knowledge, exactly the same in every way, than on previous model, 540E.

Hello!

Thanks for the answers

The tray of Teac-drives opens very fast, the Asus very slow. The different test results can be a sign for the different Firmware.

Plextor PX-W 2410: FW1.0, reading of a CD with Safedisc 40-60 Mins, with FW 1.01 under 3 Minutes

The German TEAC site still says it uses Z-CLV recording mode...
