Are there any request from the community in regards to testing the drive when i get it. Would you all like any additional information on the drive complementing Ian's review?

Paid 92.00 form Newegg.com 0.00 shipping and took two days to get to me from CA. Boy I cant wait to get home. This will be a big step for me since i havent bought a burner since 99 and that was a 4X. Now I can get 2.5 minutes burns as opposed to 15+ minutes        :D :D :D

:(:(:(Well Newegg seemed to have shipped me the OEM version with the 2meg buffer so I called them and they are shipping me the right one with the 8meg buffer second day air. This was verified using nero info tool and i would suspect that it supports buffers that are larger than 2 meg. Anyway new egg rocks carry on

I have a request, do some media compatability tests when you get the drive and let me know so I can post them in the Media Compatability thread. Thanks :)

look in nero, or nero info tool, or tons of other cd apps, i personally don't see a reason to get a burner just cause it has a 8MB buffer, my lite-on 48x makes cds with 100% scandisc accuracy

When i got the drive yesterday I used Nero Info tool and verified that it has a 2 meg buffer, but I ordered the 8 meg RW. My question is? Is there anyway to tell by model numbers between the 2 meg version and the 8 meg version.

The only reason that i got he 8 meg version was for the shits and grins. That is all

from what i remember i don't think you can tell from the model number, but the box says on the front all new 6+2MB=8MB

SM-348BEA OEM $90
SM-348BEAB Black OEM $94

Cheaper than South Korean prices by 10%.
