Hi,
I'm going to buy a Cdrw and I choose the Lite-Ons, but I have a couple of
questions about them:

1. I decided to buy the 48246S model, but I have read some posts, where
it was noticed that 48126S can be "overclocked" to 52246S. Is that true?
If it is what's the better option: to buy the 48126S and overclock it
to 52246S or to buy the 48246S => 52246S?

2. What's the difference between the 48125S/ 48125W and 48126S
models? I know that "S" means ST microelectronics and "W"=Winbond,
but what's the "real" difference?

>>Thats your choice. If you wanna save a few bucks, go with the 48126S. If you don't want to void your warranty then go with the 52x.

1. So I'll go with the 48126S model. The price in my country is 65$,
but at the same price is the LG's 481648. So which is better


2. I actually asked about the difference between 48125S and 48126S.
Also the drives with which chipsets are better for overclocking
Winbond or ST micro.

I like Lite-On drives the most but that is just my opinion. A lot of people say LG is good. What country are you in?

Actually, this is not accurate. Nobody knows what they mean for sure, but it may refer to the mfg plant. I have a 52246S with a Winbond chip.
To answer the other question: which is better, S or W, there's no difference.

The LG drive will not burn the new 24x "Ultra-Speed" RW media, if I'm correct, it only burns 16x on the "High-Speed" 12x type media, which is a very dubious practice. The LiteOn "6" series drives will burn very high quality 24x RW discs at 24x, and "may" soon bo flashable to 32x RW speeds. (but you didn't hear that from me)
The "6" series LiteOn drives are also slightly better at burning all other types of RW media as well, IMHO.
The "5" deries LiteOn drives are the slightly older models, are very respectable and reliable drives, but will not support any of the newer RW technology like 24x burning. They also may not copy certian copy protected discs quite as well, but this is not certain.
