who makes Polaroid 48X16X48 Internal? I don't think it's a LITE ON being that it's 16x rewritable. i hope not ACER/BENQ!

I highly doubt Lite-On made the Polaroid drive. Lite-On has never released a 48x16x48 CD-RW drive in America. And if your wondering about the TDK 48x16x48, it was really a Lite-On LTR-48246S that can be upgraded to 48x24x48 through the use of TDK firmware. The TDK drive was underclocked at the time of release due to the lack of 24x CD-RW media.
I highly suspect the Polariod to be made by Benq, Optorite or CyberDrive as they actually produce 48x16x48 drives that are sold in America.

All Polaroid CDRW i have seen on the web were Lite-On featuring Smartburn Lite-On exclusive technology ( smartburn is not inscribed on the box in retail stores but there is not much/real info on Polaroid boxes ! ) . No matter the rewritable speed inscribed on the box , this info is not always accurate because resellers don't know what they sell ( Traxdata which sells only Lite-On drives makes the same mistake on some boxes ) .

Nevertheless it is possible that Polaroid resell too CDRW drives from another manufacturers . I can only say for sure that all the Polaroid drives i have seen on the web were without doubt OEM Lite-On .
