Help with Samsung SW-248B

I've installed a SW-248B burner in my new machine (2.4 GHz P4) and everything was working well until last night. I have burned a few CD's already, so I know that it was working. However, when I went to burn my last CD (from wav files on HD), it recorded the first file, then hung and complained about not being able to read the SW-248B. I rebooted and tried again with the same results. Also, if I load a audio cd in the drive and media player comes up, it says it cannot play in the right mode because of the inability to read the drive correctly. It looks like it plays, but I hear nothing and I don't get the cool visual effects in the window. I just downloaded the new firmware and am going to load that on. I also uninstalled the device and reloaded it . I'm running Windows 2K pro.

Any help would be appreciated it.

Follow up:

Looks like I have a bad drive, after loading the new firmware, the drive still has problems reading a audio CD. I realized that I didn't have the digital CD option selected in the media player. Apparently, when it had a problem it reverted to analog mode. Anyway, after creating a CD, the quality was very poor with pops, clicks, and skips. reinstalled my old Yamaha CDR-W, and created the same session. The yamaha did just fine, even though it's slow as a dog. And, no problem with yamaha reading audio CD.
