Is it supported by all readers? All writers?

I have a Yamaha CRW-F1, and Nero 5.5.8. Can I burn one? if not, maybe with a different software?

No, no, no and no. I don't know of any reader or writer currently being offered for sale that supports it. I think even Sony has given up on it. (They did try to give it a go with the CRX200E-A1)

Well it's a waste of time really, isn't it?

The readers can't read it. The writers can't write it. And the killer blow is DVDR. When you can get a DVD recorder for around $250 why buy a specialised CD recorder that would probably cost $150 anyway, with media being $2-3 a shot, whereas the larger DVD-R discs start at around 50 cents (and are readable by a huge number of installed drives out there)? Makes no sense to me!!!

Nor to the millions of other consumers out there, which is why it has been abandoned in the dust heap of optical drive technology. If it wasn't for recordable DVDs, DDCD might have had a chance. But, as you point out, there is no economic incentive to use or develop DDCD at this point.
