Is Universal BUSlink 48x12x48x really a Lite-On?

My 8x cdrw bit the dust and I've heard good things about Lite-On. Is the Universal BUSlink RW-4848 a re-badged Lite-On? Or do they use a host of manufacturers?

This drive is on special at CompUsa and would save me some $$$ vs. purchasing the regular retail Lite-On.

Thanks for the help

It might be a LiteOn, it might be an Optorite, it might be something else. Look for "SMART-BURN" on the box as an indicator that a LiteOn is inside. Another indicator of LiteOn inside is a stick-on serial number label that resembles this:

(My webserver seems to be down as I post this, so the above picture isn't currently visible. Hopefully that will clear up shortly.)

There's $40 in rebates on this drive @ BestBuy this week Jan 19-25 2003.

I also replied to that thread. This drive is currently sold out at BestBuy.com and can't be ordered at all. In addition to that, the drive can't be picked up at Best Buy stores either. This item is a closeout and good luck trying to find it in stock at your local Best Buy.
