Why are the prices gonna rise?. are they going bankrupt.
Is this only this company or all companies?

It'll be all companies. Supply and demand -- at one point there was so much excess supply that the markets became flooded with cheap product and the prices plummeted. This is now changing -- a few smaller companies have stopped or slowed production and more CDRs are being consumed, so demand is exceeding supply now and the companies can afford to ramp up the price.

Then some more smaller manufacturers will start popping up, offering discs for less and the cycle will start again. Give it six months....

Some companies have already switched a few of their factories from manufacturing CD's to DVD's.

I guess maybe I should pick up that 100-pack of Fuji/TY discs for $8 at BestBuy after all. I was there yesterday, had them in my hands, then put them back, telling myself that I really had enough discs on hand for now and could get more later when they inevitably went on sale again.

The Hitachi Maxell's are usually on par with the TY's, but expensive. The TY's are better than the others, hands down.

Unfortunately, recent Maxell's discs are made by Ritek (still in Taiwan ) .
