Is the Plextor/TY 48x 700Mb CDR as good as the Fuji/TY 48x 700Mb? Anyone can post the test result? :)

Nothing is as good as Fuji/TY:

I suspect that since both are made by TY they are both of equivalent quality. TY doesn't seem to have the wildly varying quality grades like CMC.

cfitz - I learned that you also using some Mitsui CDR. The Mitsui Gold that I got here are all made in Taiwan. Do you think the quality is similar? If not because of the price, you will choose TY or Mitsui Gold.

I honestly don't know for sure, since my experience with Mitsui is limited to one batch of Mitsui Silver. I bought them for testing purposes to see if they were worth the extra money. As shown in the other thread I referenced, I haven't been getting completely satisfactory initial burn quality on my test batch. The quality is in the very-good to reasonably-good range up to about 60 minutes, and then errors start showing up. And the tests aren't completely consistent, either.

Based on what I have seen in initial burn quality, at this point I would choose TY over Mitsui. But, as I have noted, initial burn quality doesn't tell the whole story. Over time the Mitsui's might hold up much better. That is why I intend to put my photos on two or three brand/types of discs each. It is extra insurance against the unexpected.

So many variables, so many unanswered questions... sorry I can't give a simple, straightforward, definitive answer. :(
