the drive in the picture on the box is "reversed" - the buttons on the left, the phone jack & volume are on the right.

also, the drive in the pic on the box does not look like the drives in the webpage dhc014 lined to. those indeed do look like Lite-Ons, the one on the box does not!

I searched for CDR-5W40 or something looking for known firmwares...

The drive in the picture is not a Lite-ON because of the two buttons, but the picture is probably flipped horizontally because I know of no drives with the buttons on the left.

No, the drive in the picture you posted isn't a LiteOn, but the one shown and described on the page to which you linked does appear to be a LiteOn.
