I was just thinking about flashing my Liteon drive to the 526S0A firmware and noticed that Liteon just posted a new firmware today - 526S0C. The description is again, "match more media." There is also a corresponding firmware upgrade for the 48X burner.

Haven't fully tested it yet but it made my older 40x TY media burn at 52 and it would only do 40 before so so far so good

I just installed it too.

I'll try a few things out and let you know.


I'm glad that we have programs like Flash Fix & MTKFlash to fall back on when needed...

It's 6 seconds faster than the original firmware.

It's still writing in CAV mode.

Spazmogen is always quick on the draw with the Ultra-Speeds !

I can only second his remarks about MTK-Flash and Flash Fix: They sure helped when I did some systematic studies with this media for the LTR 48246S. Seems like now is a good time to pass these on...

The only significant change in write speed was in getting away from SID1 (limited to 16x). Apart from that, SS06 was about 10 sec. faster at 24x than other versions. I'm not sure how significant the error rate is- at least 10% variation between repeated burns- but SS0B seems to be pretty good on this count. I always used the same disk, fully erased between burns.

Edit:
First try with CD-R: 24x Intenso(Prodisc), burned fine at 48x (like before). No significant change in error rate either => no real need to update.

just to let u know my site now have the edited sony versions of the Liteon firmwares:)

6S0C made a huge difference on LG/Prodisc 48x media

Maybe I need to re-test some CMC media...
