After reading the reviews for the drive decided to get this one the drive works awsome writing and reading disks the only question i have is:

Can the drive speeds be unlocked to burn cdrw faster then they are listed at such as i have 1x4x cdrw media from memorex is there a way to force them to burn at a higher speed? maybe a way to edit the firmware for the drive or somthing or by doing a function with the drive. I have tried with many programs for burning but all will only write the disk at 4x i would even settle for like 10x or would i be better of buying new cdrw and what would be recomended for this drive i would hate to have to replace all 50cdrw media with new if possible.

Also just in case peeps don't know this drive is based off the lite-on 52x24x52x 52246s drive and i have the latest firmware installed 6S0C version.

Nope. 4x is the limit for 4x CD-RW media, and there is no way around it.

If you are going to replace your CD-RW media with newer, faster media, I would recommend the Verbatim 24x media:

I've got a couple drums of 85 octane gas left over from when I had an 8:1 compression ratio '62 Studebaker. How can I get my my 10:1 compression ratio '01 Jeep to run on them? Or do I have to buy new gas?

Just add water!

To be fair, older CD-R discs can often be burned at far higher speeds than what they were originally rated. It isn't uncommon to be able to burn (good quality) 16x and 24x CD-R media at 32x, 40x and even 48x. But CD-RW media is a horse of a different color. It is much more particular about the speeds at which it can be burned. It is even picky about being burned at low speeds. For example, you can't burn 4x-10x CD-RW media at 1x.

So it wasn't a stupid question, just an uninformed question. And informing is what we are here to do!
