Why is FUJI putting weird design labels on their CD-R?

I usually get FUJI CD-R because they had a plain silver top. But now, most FUJI I find in the store, have those stupid colored tops with designs on them.

I like the clear silver tops, so I can put my own white label on the cd-r and not have anything else seen through the label. I stopped buying Memorex CD's because of their stupid white label and bright blue Memorex name on it. This shows through my labels.

Since FUJI seems to be not using clear silver tops anymore, what other brand is good?

Fuji does sell their "rainbow colors" versions, but all the discs in their regular packaging that I have seen remain the same simple but elegant silver. Where are you purchasing yours that you find only the "rainbow colors" version? There are plenty of the regular silver discs around my area.

You can buy generic TY media with either a plain silver back, or a plain white printable back. though not cheap, they can be bought at www.cddimensions.com

You must not look only for brand but where media are made, and from which factory .Every brand make discs depends on market which will be available for low cost/quality/sold ....
Well known quality CDrs are made by Taiyo Yuden in Japan ,available now under brands Memorex ,Fuji ,Maxell ,Verbatim ,Plextor etc .Also hard to find discs made by Mitsui -Japan under brands like Teac....
As No2 in quality, discs made by Ritek in Taiwan under brand Memorex,Traxdata ,Philips ,TDK ,Maxell etc are good in quality too .
Finally TDK's (made by TDK OEM) are also good ...

I think Fuji's just trying to branch out with different designs, like Memorex has done with the color and all-black CD-R's. Im sure they will still make the basic all silver CD-Rs.

BTW I have noticed Memorex just changed thier CD design on thier 80 minute CD-Rs from white labels with blue text to an all siver label - I think they looks nicer, IMO. I hope I can find thier TY made media with this design soon.

As for labels, stay away from CD Stomper's basic labels. They sell these at Sam's club in a 100 pack. Really thin and cheap labels. If you get them wet they can peel off real easy.

I NEVER use the slap on labels. Seems like a massive waste of time and ink. printing with the CD-R pens seems much quicker and preserves the CD-R better... No worry about jamming in an audio CD player or if the label will rub the CD-R above it in the CD Spindle that I store them in...

Or even the stick on labels, I suppose...

I am the same way. The labels seem like an invitation to trouble, either by unbalancing the disc, peeling off, or even causing the disc itself to delaminate. So I stick with CD-compatible markers. Not pretty, but they do the job, they are cheap, and they involve less risk.
