I just got my lite-on 52/24/52 burner, and I would like to know what cd-r/rw discs that you guys are using. Does the brand matter, or is there anything that I have to know?

Hmm... seems that I don't have much choices here in the philippines... have you guys heard of smartbuy or ridata? They even sell no name 1X-4X cd-rws

CD-RW discs:
i believe the best are Verbatim DataLifePlus. hope you can get them!

Read through that post again a little more carefully. You will see that the fault was a bad drive, not the Verbatim DataLife discs. Also, that post was talking about CD-R discs, not CD-RW discs.

Sorry, I wasn't reading it too well... I was planning of buying spindles of cd-rw's and I just wanted to be sure of what I'm buying... thanks for the suggestions.

By the way, spazmogen used some Smart Buy discs in the past. They had a funky bug-like dude pictured on the label, so they weren't the prettiest (at least not in his opinion - I thought they were great), but they burned without errors at 40x in his LiteOn even though they were only rated 16x. So I guess they are good quality. I believe they are made by Prodisc.

Ridata is Ritek, I believe, and ought to be reasonable quality as well.

Agree. Verbatim CDRW is the best. SmartBuy CDRW also quite good. I got one SmartBuy CDRW 10x for almost a year. No problem yet.

Yeah that's right! I just purchased about a couple of smartbuys (with the bug guy) and ridatas and I'll be trying those out. I also bought some 1X-4X no-name cd-rw discs... I had no idea then that those were the write speeds that can be done on those cd's without any error, so I just bought them for their low price (Anyway, I was just experimenting. As far as I'm concerned I'm a newbie in this cd burning trend). Well, thanks for all the info. They were very helpful!

Yeah, I've still got one of the Lime Green, butt ugly, bug-dude 16x CD-R discs left in reserve.
In case I ever have to mail cfitz anything. :wink:

As for CD-RW discs, I recommend Verbatim DataLifePlus 650mb any speed

Jensen 10x, 700mb discs
AOPEN 10x, 700mb

Ricoh 2x, 650mb discs are fantastic too, if you can still find them.

AVOID Memorex!!!!

That was my post. It turned out my writer was dying. It was burning ok, but I couldn't tell, as the drive wouldn't read correctly, even discs it had burned.

Hey Number 25, you can check out Maxell 700MB Highspeed 1x-10x CD-RW's at Columbia Branches (Megamall, Southmall, Greenhills, Festival Mall, Parksquare 2).

They work A-ok with my Samsung SM-348B
