Hi..
Remember we've talked about the new drive from Teac, will it be reviewed, how is Teac's support when it comes down firmware, the long time or no time at all it takes them to answer back etc..

Like some others i was disappointed as well by the sharp allegations towards Teac.

Well, to their defence i'll put here the content of my email conversations i had with them:

ME:
Hello.
I was wondering if i should buy your new drive, the CDW552EB, but i dont
know how it preforms so would you consider sending a sample drive to some
review site like CDRlabs.com , CDRinfo.com or CDfreaks.com?

I know i wouldn't be the only one to appreciate it..

Waiting for a reply,

Me.

Teac's support reply:

Hello YOU,
The drive is going to reviews by the various testing sites. The results will be out soon.

Thank you for your interest on the TEAC CDW552E,

TEAC America, Inc.

ME:

Thanks a lot..
And on another tone, how would you reply to this next topic?
Omer.

Teac's support reply:

Hello YOU,
Thank you for the reference to this note. Well, the CDW548E (48x) and CDW552E (52x) are two completely different drives. The competitive nature of this business calls for the 52x drive to be the drive speed of choice instead of the 48x speed. Therefore, the CDW548E was only sold in bulk until the inventory was depleted. The CDW552E will be sold in bulk and also as part of retail kit.

TEAC is still an independent company, which is very strong due to its diversified product offerings. Please reference www.teac.com

Best regards,
TEAC America, Inc.

Both Emails came with in a reply range of two days max..

What do you think about the whole thing?

As far as the 48x writer. That sounds right. I've only seen it sold in OEM form here in the US. Has anyone seen the 52x writer (retail) here in the US yet?
