FUN! I can't wait for that (even though I love Lite-ON) :D

Ya, it's cool. The gun can go through a tree no prob! I sat it on a box, and blasted it, then behind a tree and shot through the tree and the drive, then loaded some reduced loads (.44 Magnum level) and emptied the gun into it at short range. What was left was used for target practice for the rest of the day (the .454, a 12gauge, and a 9mm). Not much left, for some reason :P

I *ALMOST* used my .50...but the .454 has a bit more "thump"! :)

I do love Freedom Arms...but, unfortunatly, had to sell my old one (a .475) :(

The .454 I have now is a Ruger Super Redhawk. Lowcost, VERY accurate, and six shots to boot! Only downside? It's DA, not SA, so doesn't "roll" and thus kicks like a b****.

... and pbly can't fine tune the triggerpull...

But the new S&W .50 should be easily fine tuned ! (8 1/2") :o :P

Triggers a bit have in SA, but otherwise ok. Beats a S&W! :)

Although I must admit that is one HELL of a round! The *reduced* loads are full-power .454 level! Have you seen this pic?

http://www.smith-wesson.com/Products/Firearms/m500.htm#

What I want to know is WHY a new round? It's equal to the .500 Linebaugh Long Max, except a smaller diameter bullet. Guess they thought that since Ruger has their name on a round, they need it too...but they already HAD the .40 S&W...So that's two new rounds that nobody needs because they're already equal/better loads (.480 Ruger being the other...I cut down .475. How about just downloaded .475's or .454? And hmm...ballistics look alot like the .50AE). What is UP with these guys?

Magnum Research is coming out with a BFR in .500 S&W...I'll be getting one. Just order my new BFR .475...

Wait a minute...how did this turn into a GUN thread!?! :o
Maybe we should move this to Accurate...

I don't know about you, but *I* want one!

Hopefully I'll get a chance to shoot a .600 NE rifle here pretty soon...my friend, whose brother has the rifle, said his shoulder was bruised for a week.

That's MY kind of rifle!! :) :P

The .500 S&W or the .600NE?

.44 Mag, BBA Load: 1260ft-lbs muzzle energy
.500 S&W: 2600ft-lbs muzzle energy
.600NE: >10,000ft-lbs (900gr @ 2295fps, I had the velocity a bit low before)

But then muzzle energy is a crappy messure of stopping power, so:
.44 Mag: 24 TKO
.50 AE: 32.5 TKO
.500 S&W: 51 TKO
.600 NE: 183 TKO

TKO=Taylor Knock Out value (TKO=mv*dia*gr/7000)

Never have, nor ever will, shoot a .44. Hate the round. Give me a .50 or .475 or .454...
