Anyone know about this drive or have any background information about it? I have a friend who does a lot of mass burning and he's having massive issues using Nero. He's getting buffer underrun errors and all, and I'm wondering if there's a firmware upgrade or something he could do to it to make it more reliable. Also, on some discs, Nero will read and write the speed of the CD-Rs hes using as 32x or slower when they're really 48x Khypermedia CD-Rs. It was installed in his new Gateway PC and is supposed to be 48x24x48x, although he rarely gets those speeds when using Nero and Roxio. I had figured that this drive was a Lite-On, when I bought my Gateway, I had an OEM Lite-On installed, but when I did a little research on the drive it turned out that it is most likely an LG drive. Some help or advice would be great, thanks.

EDIT: My fault, he can only burn at 32x on all of the CDs he has tested so far. They are all 48x CD-Rs and he has tried CDRWIN, Roxio and Nero.

I have 4 of those drives on home and business PC's and they run flawless.
Media picky though.
Maxell 40x & 48x writes at 48x
Verbatim 48x @ 48x
Acer 24x. 32, & 40x @ 40x
HP (TY) 24x @ 40x
Make sure DMA enabled on CDRW & HDD

is he copying on the fly ? cause you will never 48x on the fly.
if on the fly, how fast can the reader read data. ?
I use Roxio, Nero & Clone CD.
