8) I'm kind of cheap, bought a Buslink 48x12x48 cdrw(model:rw4848)at$35($75-$40 mir)at Compusa in Dec.But after 2 weeks When I checked the website I feel I've been cheated. From some hacking website, which release some hacking firmware for upgrading Buslink 48x12x48 to 52x24x52 with Liteon firmware. They said that because these buslink Drives are made by Liteon and are basically Lite-On OEM Drives.
But they also state they're 2 models(model# both are:rw4848).The only diffrence to identify them is the buffer-underrun technique. A upgradeable one is the one which using smart-burn technology.
But I got the one which is using the Justlink & justspeed technology(whatever the nice technique term they used is bullshit).
And now u can get them from bestbuy for $20 after $50 rebate.
But unfortunately bestbuy always run out of stock.I'm hunting this drive in bestbuy for 1 week in Chrismas,But could never get this product. I guess these drives were never in their stock, It's just their ad to solicit customers.
Then I went to buslink website(guys this website is really sucks. It's probably been hacked be4). what i found is that the Justlink one is never exist and now the 48x12x48(smartburn) one is selling for $70 at their website, but the 52x24x52(smartburn) one is selling for $40. What's wrong with those guys? They went nuts? There must be some inner secret. And i'm just been curious,I found they're 2 versions of site
http://www.buslink.com/CDRW48X.htm http://www.buslink.com/ver2/CDRW48X.htm
http://www.buslink.com/CDRW52X.htm
http://www.buslink.com/ver2/CDRW52X.htm
It's a mess for sure. For whatever reason they just hide the link for version 1.Maybe U may say you're really insane. But I really urge anyone can give me some explain on why so many brand cdrw(sony, buslink,Norcent) can be upgrade to 52x24x52 via lite-on firmware. And some many people wondering about whether the model they bought is oem of lite-on or not. If the cdrw is upgradeable to 52x24x52
why the manufactor restrict it to 48x12x48. If the manufactor change those lowspeed drive to 52x24x52,they can sell for higher price. why didn't they do that?

Buslink used to pack Lite On drives in their boxes. The boxes had the Smart Burn sticker on it as a result. Windows detects these Buslink drives as true Lite On drives. Therefore, you can upgrade these with firmware from Lite On.

I bought a Buslink drive 48x12x48 (according to the box) but it actually contained a 48x24x48 Lite On drive. The 48x24x48 Lite On is well known for being able to be converted to the 52x24x52x.

You don't need to hack anything. Simply use MTKFlash or FlashFix or MTKWinFlash http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=9398.

You simply flash the drive with the 52x24x52x Lite On firmware that you got from Lite On.

Simple. No hacking necessary.

You're message is convoluted: did you buy this drive and flash it up to a 52x or not ?

I really hate the term "Hack". People use it way too often, there was a discussion on this in the DVD forum not long ago...

"Then I went to buslink website(guys this website is really sucks. It's probably been hacked be4)."

Who the heck would hack the Buslink website?!

So did you get a Lite-ON or not? Many 52x24x52 Buslinks are AOpen drives, read this.

Thank you for ur replying!!

Sorry,to be honest with u I just want to get people's attention when I used the word hack. Like u said it's just upgrade firmware no big deal.
But in order to get the bios display that it is buslink driver not the aopen or liteon one. U have to modify the firmware file. I called this hack because it has something to deal with the hexeditor and it's some kind of tricky.
I got the buslink 48x12x48 (justlink). I never tested it with the flashrom writer. cz i'm not sure about this one is oem of aopen or liteon. And It's used justlink &justspeed. The upgradeable one is smartburn which is the technique only used by liteon.Since I got the info about upgrade sony buslink and etc drive to 52x24x52 liteon drives, I post it to share it with u guys,Cz I also getting this from other internet resources I'm not sure it's true or not!!
Thanks for ur replying,I admire I'm a newbie on cdrw.I'm cheap

First of all, you can't flash your Aopen drive with Lite-On firmware. Aopen and Lite-On use two totally different chip sets. Drives with Justlink are Aopen drives, while the drives with smartburn are Lite-On.

In addition, will you please refrain from using all bold letters in your posts.

Thank you!!Because of help from ur guys, I find out that my drive is a aopen one. Finally I figure out that there are 2 kinds of drive offer in buslink 48x12x48 product (Model:rw4848)which is on hot-sale rightnow at a steal-price $20 after rebate in most of stores.(Btw,I spent $15 more and still didn't get the rebate) The one with sticker Justlink & justspeed technology on the box is the aopen one can upgrade to 52x24x52 with aopen newest firmware.
Another one is Smartburn technology sticker on the box is manufacture by Lite-on(cz smartburn is the trademark technology of the lite-on) can also upgrade to 52x24x52 via flash with lite-on firmware. People usually wanna get the lite-on one because Smartburn is a well-known technology to prevent buffer-underrun error(2MB buffer)Since, most of error on writing cd is cz of buffer memory is not enough to handle transferin files onto the cd.If the buffer-underrun is controlled, 90% of cd can be prevented from being garbage.
The text written in green is used to explain to the users who consider to buy the products,so let them have an idea to pick those 2 models(Actually they're same model, but different manufactor). And user who already got the product can identify their cdrw
for upgrading to faster speed.
MY QUESTION IS WHICH ONE IS BETTER ?WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JUSTLINK& SMARTBURN?Why buslink offers two different manufactor's product at the same time at 48x speed for drives can have 52x.They also sell a 52x drive at a low price$30 what's the difference between the one is already 52x and the 48x one which can upgrade to 52x? Could anybody have tested these 2 drive post their comments plz? I'm so sticky to these buslink product!!!Crazy :o
I'm just a stealer who steal and gather the info from this website and other internet resources

"Smartburn is a well-known technology to prevent buffer-underrun error"

Actually, SmartBurn is not a buffer underrun technology alone. It includes much more than that. Read here. Justlink is only Buffer Underrun Free technology. Buslink sells two different models because they felt it to be cost effective..

Thank you!!!

After hundreds of trials of flashing&modifcation. I found it is not true for upgrade buslink 48x12x50(aopen oem with justlink tech) to 52x24x52.
After failure of using aopen firewire 52x24x52 v.1.50.
I reflashed the drive with the aopen v1.40 one which this website provided
aopen oem firmware1.40.
I also found there're some bugs in the file. After flashing, My system become unstable and got crash everytime I run the Neoinfotool and drivespeed program.
Can anyone noticed about this!!! Or that's only problem happen to me??
Anyway, The hack for modify the buslink48x12x50(justlink)to 52x24x52 is not true.
But I'm not true about the Liteon one.
Anybody has comments on this??

oh yeah??
