I forgot if I asked this before, sorry if did. Just wondering since their DVD Burner is out. Has Plextor stopped at 48x24x48x CD burners? Or will they make a 52x24x52x? Or maybe a 52x32x52x? Thanks, Craig.

It's impossible to tell for sure what Plextor is going to do. However, I am 99% sure that Plextor will not release a CD recorder with 52X CD-R write and 52X CD read capabilities, because Plextor does not support the idea of the 52X CD speed--they seemed very relectant to release their 48X recorder because of the exploding CD issue. Which is why they added the SpeedRead "feature" and set the default read speed to 40X. However, there is a half decent possibility that Plextor will release a 48/32/48 CD-RW drive to support the 32X CD-RW discs (which do not exist yet). However, I believe that Plextor (in the future) will focus *solely* on DVD burners and DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drives--that's where the money will be in the future.

Is there truly any useful difference between a 52x and 48x burner anyway? About 5-10 seconds, that's all. As someone who owns more than one 52x burner, I dunno what all the fuss is about. It's not like the shift from 4x to 8x, or 8x to 16x, these were revolutions, 48x to 52x is nothing.
