Time to upgrade... Lite-on or LG or MSI?

I've decided it's time to retire the old 8x4x32. She's served me well, but her destiny lies with my old system, not my new one. But which 52x burner to buy? it's between Lite-On, LG and MSI. Any thoughts?

Lite-On. Go to your local Circuit City and buy the BUSlink 52x CD-RW drive if it has SmartBurn on the box. Simple as that.

In upgrading from my old Plex 8432, I boiled it down to LG or Lite-on. Every review I read of Lite-on said that while they were reliable and fast, they were loud. Having enough noise coming out of my system as it is, I opted for the LG 8520B. It whisper quiet, has not made a coaster yet (It has yet to burn at 52X, but I can live with that), and cost me a mere $60. It definitely gets my recommendation.

The noise in my new Buslink/Liteon was definetly shocking. But hey..it matches the noise from the dual fans in the system
I randomly use the drive...meaning i'll burn 10-20 discs at a time every week or 2. Other then that, the drive hardlly is spinning.
I guess my point is, although noisy, it's not like the drive is working all the time...unless it would in your application.

If your case already has 3 or more fans going 24/7, then the noise of a Lite-On drive won't bother you. It'll just blend in with the noise coming from your fans.

haha, suckers, got my Lite-On 52x for $10 + tax, brand new, staples
If you don't want a burner that produces sound then go find a 4x hp
but if you want to burn at 52x then buy a Lite-On, sound is always gonna be a by-product
LG Drives are quality and Quiet!

I have to disagree the second most valuable quality in a drive as far as I am concerned is the level of noise it makes. I will not stand for a noisy drive when other drives are out there with just as good or better performance and a much lower noise level! LG drives are quiet!

see you guys are used to computers that are silent, mine has one 120mm fan blowing 100CFM directly at graphics card, and soon to add a second 120mm fan on my processor's heatsink blowing 131.5CFM
the loudest fan in my case is only 45dBA
