Hi

I'm going to get a Sony CRX 220A Burner. I've already got a sony 52x latest CD ROM drive on Secondary Master. I've got a 40GB Seagate 7200rpm on Primary Master. What should I set the new Burner to for best results? I intend to do lots of direct copying. Also is my computer fast enough to cope with a 52x burner. 1200 mhz. 512mb ram. ASUS TUSMI-M M/B GF4 MX440?

Yep! that's the ideal way, then your source drives are not on the same channel as your burner. That means no sharing of the channels bandwidth while doing on-the-fly stuff, and less chance for kicking in the buffer-underrun protection. Even with that set-up, I still would consider burning from a temporary HDD image as you get a more reliable stream and IMO better burns. Of course that is just an opinion, and I don't want to hear from the people that always burn on-the-fly at 52x and have never had a coaster tell me what a moron I am.  8)

Good connections.....

Dear BoGMan1a ,
For optimum results connect your Sony CD-ROM to Primary Slave and then connect the Writer to Secondary Master and enable DMA for all the devices.
Yes,your system is fast but I dont think you would be able to copy at 52X straight as it is almost next to impossible if you are tryng to copy on the fly.Always try to burn with HDD image.
Hope this helps...

Pranav.

Hasn't this topic been covered numerous times already?
I wonder if we need a FAQ on this.
