I need burn longer than 64 chars file names with something like DirectCD (on CD-RW). It's should be like Romeo format (128 chars) instead of Joliet (64 chars), like in CDMate program. But I need direct copying support like DirectCD or InCD. Anybody knows such support?

i don't quite understand your question.

AFAIK DirectCD and InCD use the UDF disc format.

in my experience (DirectCD), you can save files with very long names. no need for special support, just dragNdrop to the CD like any other DirectCD file copying.

NOT, buddy. Unfortunately, if you try to burn files with names longer than accepted limit (32 or 64 symbols - I don't remember) - you'll get copy error! And the copying will stop/skip. Same thing occurs in Nero or EasyCD Creator when you are trying to burn long names - these programs simply shorten the names. Program like CDMate supports Romeo format - up to 128 symbols. I need this functionality in DirectCD or similar direct-copy program.

well, i have used DirectCD 4 and copied to the CDRW files with names definitely longer than 64 chars. then copied the files off the CDRW to my XP box. no problems at all!

i have no experience with DirectCD 5 or InCD.
but i think it should work.
hopefully KCK, Inertia or someone else with experience will drop by and help.

what's your setup?

Solution:

Make sure that auto-insert notification is turned on for all CD-ROM drives and CD recorders on your system (this will not cause problems with any other of our software).

Press the F5 function key on your keyboard to refresh your Explorer drive directory listings.

I have just run a quick check on my 98SE box with InCD 3.52.20b.

Files with names containing up to 127 characters can be copied, accessed, renamed, etc. With 128 characters, no go. Well, I'm not sure about my character counts (maybe it does work with 128 chars), but the main point is that the limit is close to 128, not just 64.
