I have a Teac cd-w516EB burner, and i use to have roxio easy creator 5.

I have since changed to the much greater (in my opinion) program Nero,

The only problem that i am having is that i had burned many cd's with easy cd creator, but when i try to copy the files from CD --> hard drive, i get an error message " Cannot copy ___: cannot read from the specific device".

I have tried reinstalling roxio, i have tried burning an image of the CD (to no avail) and no matter what i try i just can't get the files off the cd

one last thing, I checked the properties of the disk and it tells me that the "file system: UDFRDR" even though i specifically remeber leaving it as a closed CD to read on all computers

If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated

The UDFRDR option is found on discs written with DirectCD (packet writing), not Easy CD Creator.

If you chose the option to close the disc(s) to ISO for reading on any computer, you would have used CD-R discs, as this option is not available on CD-RW discs.

If for some reason the files are not being read because they weren't closed to ISO properly, you still may be able to read the packet written format if a proper UDF reader is installed. You can get a UDF reader by going to UDF VOLUME READER at the bottom of the page and clicking on the download link. You will have to register at Roxio to complete the download, but it's no big deal.

If the UDF reader doesn't solve your problem, I would try reading the discs with another CD-RW burner to see if that works.

I would also try reinstalling EZCD Creator 5 and make sure that DirectCD is installed. Open DirectCD and make sure that the disc(s) is(are) indeed closed to ISO. Let us know what DirectCD reports about the disc(s).

You might also want to take a crack at them with IsoBuster:
