Does this software also playback DVD's, like PowerDVD XP? If so would you only need a DVD-ROM drive to playback DVD's, until I decided I needed a DVD burner? Thanks, Craig.

All that is needed for playback of DVD's is a DVD-ROM drive.

The Roxio Player that comes with EZCD/DVD 6 will play video files, VCD, SVCD, and DVD movies created with DVD burning programs. It won't play commercially produced discs with DeCSS copy protection, but any standard DVD player software can play protected discs including the free Windows Media Player.

Windows Media won't play DVD Movies without adding software like PowerDVD XP or WinDVD.

If you don't have DVD playback software it isn't usually necessary to buy a copy. When you buy a DVD-ROM drive, it usually includes a bundled (free) OEM copy of a DVD player, most frequently CyberLink PowerDVD. :)
