DirectCD and Mt. Rainier/Easywrite

Is it possible to format a CD-RW disc with UDF with DirectCD (5.3.5.10h) and a Mt. Rainier capable burner? I am wondering because I wanted to format a CD-RW disc on my main PC, but it had to be writable on another system that doesn't support Mt. Rainier.

Unfortunately, the DirectCD 5.3.5.10 does not allow a choice between Quick Format (Mt. Rainier/EasyWrite) and Full Format when a Mt. Rainier capable burner is used, i.e. the Liteon LTR 52246S with 6SOF firmware.

Drag-to-Disc (packet writing) in Easy CD/DVD Creator 6 allows a choice between the two formats with the same burner and firmware, and also allows the enabling of compression with a Full Format.

If you start a Mt. Rainier recording on one computer, it will be readable but not writable on another system that doesn't support Mt. Rainier. If you want a disc to be writable on a non-Mt. Rainier system, it must be fully formatted. This means you have to use a writer that doesn't support Mt. Rainier with this version of DirectCD for writing transportability.

Depending on your burner, it may be possible to flash your firmware to an earlier version without Mt. Rainier support. I am not suggesting this as a good solution, but it may be useful as a last resort.

Thanks, Inertia. :D

I guess that if I want to use a disc on an older system, I'll just have to use that system to format it. I can't flash to an earlier version of the firmware because my LTR-48125W and AOpen CRW5224 (the drives on the system that I was using) have supported Mt. Rainier since their first firmware versions.
