Corel Buys Roxio Products From Rovi

Looks like we'll be seeing Corel Creator and Toast some time in the future..

Corel today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Roxio® product line from Rovi Corporation. With this deal, Corel will expand its product portfolio to include Roxio’s broad range of digital media and security solutions. The acquisition includes Roxio® Creator®, the industry’s most popular digital media suite and Roxio® Toast®, the leading optical burning software on the Mac® platform. The deal is expected to close in February. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

I dabble a bit in photography and Corel recently acquired Bibble as well. Isn't Corel where software goes to die???

I haven't bought a Roxio product since EMC 8. I always did like their interface better than Nero. I don't know if I have ever used any Corel software, but I hope they can bring down the bloat so it doesn't take 1 or 2GB to install. If they did that, I might consider trying it out again. They should also bring back the ability to choose what components you want to install. Else, I just use ImgBurn.
