Hmmmmmmmm. Did the upgrade, now my Memorex BBQ200 isn't recognized anymore (LiteON 48125W and Memorex BBQ202 are recognized ok on my system).

Don't see no drive update patch yet.

The latest update by Roxio is miserable under Windows XP Pro (Easy CD Creator bombs out), but works under Windows 2000 Pro SP3.

There have been many posts at the Roxio forum about the 5.3.1 update and SCSI problems. If you have SCSI drives, you probably would be better off staying with 5.1 for now. Roxio also released an engforce patch that fixes drive recognition and engine errors after installing 5.3.1:

jmbrown12 - Thanks for the update! :)

Nah, my CDRW drives were IDE interface burners.

Talk about immature patches released by Roxio.

What the H???

I have this problem. I bought Ecdc 5.0 Platinum, and downloaded 5.3.1 update for it. But I can't install this update. I allways get the message "The update has been canceled. No qualified Roxio product can be detected" . What to do. I have LG GCE-8320b recorder.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

This might also be important: I can't use project selector - it just doesn't start, and Direct CD says No supported drive. ECDC that came with the recorder (5.1 basic) works normally

If you get the "no qualifying product" message try this:
Run regedit, goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adaptec\Easy CD Creator\5.0. Check for a string named "installed version" in the right pane. If it is there and the value data string does not say platinum, modify it to read platinum. If the string does not exist, click edit, new string value. Name it: installed version then right click on it and choose modify and give it the value: platinum.Click ok, close the registry and try the update again.

Thank You Mr. Brown

My hero. Thanks so much for posting the clear regedit instuctions. This thing was really starting to irritate the hell out of me with its inability to find EZCD 5 Platinum, even after numerous tries removing and installing it. The fix worked without a hitch. The app is now telling me to reboot, because "Install completed successfully!"

Thanks again,

Dave
