Has anyone else experienced this?

Good thing I still have the previous update, or maybe I'll just do a system restore.

I haven't tried it, and after reading your experience I'm not going to use it. If you look at the EZCD Creator 5 Version History you will see that there is virtually no benefit to using the latest update if an earlier version supported your burner and worked properly.

You're probably better off with the previous version. :)

Normally I wouldn't mind using 5.31, but 5.32 adds support for my
DRU-500A DVD burner; unfortunately it isn't much good when it locks up :)

VEFF,

I loaded a fresh install of Easy CD Creator 5.3.2.34 along with the latest Nero in an experiment to test simultaneous operation of InCD and DirectCD in WinXP. See my experience with roxio easycd creator 5 and xp.

I had no problems with any of the installations, and EZCD Creator causes no hangups or problems. I started with a clean install of EZCD 5.02, which does not recognize my burner. I disregarded the nonrecognition message and did not select the option to reboot. Instead, I immediately installed the update to v.5.3.2.34 and then rebooted.

If you still have a problem with this installation, try this method and see if it works for you. ;)

I just tried it with Easy CD Creator 6 and it still hangs.
I'll try isntalling the DRU-500A on the regular IDE chain, as opposed to the Promise PCI ATA controller card.

It could also be registry specific.... I am about to head out the door, so I won't go into all the details, but we know the story.........

My other burning software works fine...

Easy CD Creator is known to have problems with burners on Promise ATA controllers.

Thanks. It probably is the Promise controller as you suggested.

Oh well, I'll just keep using Nero and Stomp etc.

Have you tried using an SIIG ultra133 controller? The Plextor PX-708a did not work on the Promise ultra133tx controller, but it worked on the SIIG ultra133 controller, which I picked up from Bestbuy.
