Direct CD 2 and 52/24/52

Here's a funny one.

I used Direct CD 2.0 to format a 24x US-RW disc on a 52/24/52. I had to give up and stop it after 2 hours! :o

I can format a 10x HS-RW on a 24/10/40 drive in 10 mins!

I'll try formatting the 24x RW in the slower 10x drive and then put it back on the faster one to see how it goes.

Do you know how old DirectCD 2.0 is? It's an antique, and was a 1998 release. I'm surprised it works at all with your burner.

Take a look at CD Recorders Supported by DirectCD 2.x. Do you see your burner there? 8)

The most recent version is 5.3.2.34.

Thanks for the info.

Funny thing is, DCD 2 worked perfectly on my TDK 24/10/40B [LiteON].

Recently, I managed to get Nero to erase that RW disc. I reformatted in InCD 3.39.0 [does it include Mt. Rainier? I haven't the foggiest clue] and I still got errors on this media but not my Verbatim DataLifePlus 10x RW or Kodak 4x CDRW.

I should've ran a scandisc on the LiteON 24x CDRW media BEFORE using it. It seems to be really crappy quality media [Plasmon], but I have only one piece of it so I can't confirm the quality for other LiteON 24x RW's.

InCD 3.39?? This isn't an official version, could you mean v 3.37? V3.37 has problems with WinXP, but may work OK with other operating systems. v3.31 works OK with WinXP.

Mt. Rainier is supported by these InCD versions. It is also supported in the latest DirectCD versions. :)

InCD 3.39.0 is the version that came with my new 52x LiteON drive.

It was also packaged with Nero 5.5.9.13

That explains it. These are special purpose OEM versions.

Mt. Rainier is supported by your InCD version. In the InCD Properties | InCD Page Settings, if "Format disc to CD-MRW" is checked then Mt. Rainier is active. :)
