Tried to create a vcd but program shut down telling me something about MFC42.dll error? MPEG file was not the problem as I was able to create a vcd on my other pc running WinME.

Please help. Tried the Roxio website but no help. Lots of people having the same problem with VCD Creator and XP.

Thanks in advance.

"Something about MFC42.dll error" does not provide a lot of information. Try going to the Microsoft knowledgebase and doing a search on MFC42.dll

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto

I have never had a problem with VCD creator or any project in Easy CD Creator under Win XP Pro.

Basically, the problem occurs when I add the mpg files. When it prompts me to add and once I select the file, the 'shutting down program / send error report' window comes up and shuts down the program. I looked at the details and it just shows error in MFC42.dll.

I already went to the Microsoft and Roxio website to no avail.

Thanks.

Yeah, that's really not a lot to go by. You might have better luck contacting Roxio directly through their technical support.

One thing could try as a work around is to approach the adding files from a different direction. For example, if you were drag-and-dropping, use the Edit->Insert Into Project menu item or visa-versa. Also, you might try changing the name of the file or putting it into a directory with a different path. In particular, make it the old DOS-style 8.3 filename and path without any spaces or special characters, etc. You might also check the version of the mfc42.dll file in your windows\system32 directory, (mine happens to be 6.0.8665.0 - Tuesday, December 07, 1999, 8:00:00 AM) and see if there is a newer version you might be able to replace it with.
