Does any one have these two installed and working OK?
I've been getting hangs and freezes when trying to restore a DI2002, spanned CD image set in WinXP Sp1. When DI asks for the last segment, the DI screen just freezes.

I doubt that your problem has anything to do with DirectCD. You can confirm this by uninstalling DirectCD before restoring the image.

It is more likely to be a bug or conflict with Drive Image. There have been conflicts with CD images in the past with Drive Image when burner models were changed.

I had these two installed with no problem, using XP Home Edition. I am redoing my PC after a hard drive scrub and am going with Nero this time. I got it with my LiteOn drive and am tired of the update syste that Roxio has. I have Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum.

WinXPSP1 is not supported by Drive Image 2002.
I got an Email from Powerquest tech support stating this when I was having a problem with DI's scheduled Images in XP SP1. FYI.

I have never been sure what I needed SP1 for, so if it causes any problems, do I really need it?

This isn't a simple, "yes or no" question. There are 324 bug fixes in Categorized List of Fixes in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1). Theoretically, if you don't get any benefit from these fixes, then the service pack may not be necessary. Realistically, there are so many fixes including security enhancements that it should be a much improved version of WinXP.

Occasionally, there may be a conflict such as the Drive Image 2002 situation mentioned. On the other hand, Drive Image has had conflicts for other reasons as well, such as hardware. The service packs are so universally used that Drive Image will probably be modified to work properly.

Thanks very much for your explanation. I'll keep using SP1.
