The Liteon won't perform properly at its rated capability unless DMA is enabled. If you have tried to enable it but have been unsuccessful, it is probably because of the SIS chipset.

Try downloading and installing the latest SIS chipset drivers. Driver incompatibility is quite likely to be the cause of the problem with the Nero Info Tool. Let us know if a driver update works.

To enable DMA in WinXP, follow the instructions in Device Settings Are Hard to Find in Windows XP.

I enabled DMA and no luck. trying to update the bios in XP is looking like an almost impossible task. I love XP, but how could something so simple get turned into a nightmare? My God!!! Thanks for the advice.

Updating the system BIOS is not done in WinXP, but at DOS level from a cold boot. My initial recommendation wasn't to update the BIOS, although this might help if the initial advice doesn't work.

The original advice was to update the SiS 730S chipset drivers. If the manufacturer of your motherboard has specific drivers for this chipset, go to their support website to download the drivers. To download the generic SiS 730S chipset drivers, go to SIS Chipset Driver Downloads (enable cookies) and select Category: Chipset Utilities / Sub Category: IDE / Product: SiS 730S / OS System: Windows XP. You should download a file called ide203.zip and install it.

Chipset drivers normally install from within the operating system so you should have no problem installing it in WinXP. Just follow the instructions and let us know the results.

The problem I was having was only due to the fact that i had installed CloneCd. I had turned off hide cdr media and even closed the program, but only after a complete un-install of CloneCd was i able to get this function to work.

Thanks for all the help everone.
