Nero Memory usage

Any way to make Nero chill out on it's ram use? Whenever I burn a CD/DVD (actual burn or creating an image file) I end up with 4-6 MG of free RAM while nero is running. Needless to say, that absolutely kills my systems performace, making it all but useless while I'm burning anything.

I have the "ultrabuffer" set to 71MG...

Whats the amount of RAM that you have?

Dear BurninMan921,
What amount of RAM do you have installed on your system? Also which OS do you use?I have the UltraBuffer to the maximum value that is allowed and I have not yet faced any problems.By the way I have 256 MB of RAM with Windows XP SP1 with all effects ON.So if you have less amount of RAM reducing the amount of UltraBuffer will surely help.
See ya later,

Sorry. Windows 2000 SP3, 512MG RAM.

Try using task manager.

Try using task manager to see how much memory is used by Nero when it is opened. Also try keeping the setting of ultrabuffer to automatic. When task manager is opened see which program consumes a lot of memory.also do you have swap file enabled? If not,do that right now.Either let Windows manage the size or the ideal size should be 2.5 times the amount of RAM.
Hope this helps,
See ya later,

im having similar issues while creating images from dvd's. Suddenly my pc freezes and the
memory usage goes to the maximum. Physical memory usage on the task manager shows 99% usage.
This happens only when i create image files from dvd's
but not when i write to a dvd. If u have found the reason for this, please help me to solve this.
I'm using nero 7 essentials that came with my DVD rom. I downloaded the update for nero 7
from the nero website, but it did not solve the problem

Nero is not the product it once was. I suggest ImgBurn. It has a small footprint and works great for about everything I need it for these days. Say no to the bloat of Nero and get the free ImgBurn... If you like the software, I suggest making a donation to the author.... It's optional, but it is an exceptional product if you take the time to learn to use it.
