After I burn an MP3 disk and try to play it on my mp3 supported car cd player, I get no sound. The time counter does go up.

I have tried to burn it has a data cd and by 'other' I also have tried checking the 'iso 9660' option but still no luck.

any suggestions???

What burning software are you using and what is the brand and model of your car MP3 player?

I have tried using Nero and my car stereo is a Pioneer DEH-P6300R

Does the CD play in your computer or any other CD drives? Also do you understand the difference between a data disc that contains music in the form of mp3 data files and a CD Audio disc?

Are the mp3's CBR and have ID3v1 tags?If they are VBR with ID3v2 tags they won't play in most mp3 players.Also make sure to burn ISO9660,DAO and mode 1. D/l CDex and check the bitrate and ID3 tags then convert to proper spec.

To reiterate his advice:

Check to see that the MP3 files are CBR (constant bit rate) with ID3v1 tags.

In Nero, go to New Compilation | CD-ROM (ISO)

Multisession = No Multisession

ISO = Level 1, Mode 1, ISO 9660 Character Set, Unselect Joliet, Unselect all Relax ISO Restrictions

Burn = Disk-at-Once, select Finalize CD

You can leave the MP3 files in the root directory, but you can also put them in folders by right clicking on the New button in the left pane of the burn dialog. Click on Create Folder and insert a name up to 8 characters in length. Drag the MP3's to the folder(s) and burn.

If the link posted above doesn't seem to be working, try CDex 1.50.

Please forgive a noob!

I don't usually use CDex, but to change from VBR to CBR, in Configuration | Encoder, make sure that VBR is disabled. I used it with the LAME encoder with what seem to be default settings of MPEG 1 128kps bitrate, Quality Normal, VBR disabled.

Go to Convert | Re-encode Compressed Audio Files and select the source file(s). The destination directory in my test defaulted to X:\My Documents\My Music\MP3. CDex quickly converted a VBR MP3 to 128kps CBR.

The ID3v2 Tag was retained however. burninfool may know a way for CDex to automatically remove it, but I just opened the file(s) in Winamp (not playing the song) using File info | ID3 Tag Editor. You can then simply uncheck the ID3v2 Tag box and click on Update. The ID3v2 Tag is then removed but the ID3v1 Tag is retained.

In CDex go to "Tools",'Media file Player' and search for your mp3's then you have to play each song(one at a time) for 2 seconds then hit "Details" and uncheck ID3v2 then "update".Then go to "Encoder","Quality" and choose"alt-preset CBR" then your bitrate(192kbps is considered CD transparent).
