The Nero Express that came with the drive shows it correctly as 52X but that program sucks. Anyone know why the regular Nero 5.5.1.28 is showing the drive as 40X? And more importantly how to fix it? Thanks a lot.

Your TDK is a rebadged LiteOn. If you have a CDR that is rated at 40x by SmartBurn in the drive when you open Nero, the maxium speed available will show at 40x, the limit imposed by SmartBurn.

If you turn SmartBurn off in Recorder | Choose Recorder | Options, it should show that the drive is capable of 52x.

You're welcome. :)

It's a good idea to leave SmartBurn enabled, unless you are absolutely certain that media can burn at faster speeds with low errors. Turning it off can result in corrupted data and bad burns.
