Moving audio compilation to other hard drive

I moved some stored audio tracks to a new hard drive. I have several saved Nero audio compilation with CD-Text added and don't really want to reenter this information. Is there a simple way to correct the compilations?
I tried editing the .nra file, but (as was to be expected) this probably screwed some offsets or check sums and Nero quietly choked on this mod.

If you use a hex editor to change the path to the audio files with a search and replace edit in ASCII mode (I used Hackman), it will work as long as the character length for the replacement path is the same as the original path.

In other words, if the original path was H:\Songs Misc\WAV and the new path is N:\@Hold, Nero will be able to find the files from the .NRA compilation if the same number of characters (matched by trailing spaces) are present in the new path. Thus, if N:\@Hold......... (periods represent spaces) is used, the relationship of the other data in the .NRA files remains the same and the file is uncorrupted. If the trailing spaces are not added or the character length of the path is not the same, the data locations in the file will shift and the file won't load.

In my limited testing, although I was able to import .NRA files after moving audio files to another disc, I was not able to retrieve CD Text information with the latest Nero 5.5.10.35. CD Text was recovered properly when tested with Nero 5.5.10.7 on another computer.

Thanks for the reply, Inertia. Unfortunately, the new path is longer than the old one, which is why my edit didn't work.

I'm not sure if I'll continue to use these .nra compilations. EAC generates cue sheets which are text files :D and I can add CD-Text information to these without problems- and move the source of the files as well. The structure seems so simple that I can probably thow one together from scratch (at least for 1 track per wave file).

Do you have a link that describes the structure of cue sheets?

A couple of days ago I discovered that Nero will burn these too (although it doesn't show much of the information in the Info panel, esp. no CD-Text). I'm using version 5.5.9.17 at present.

You're welcome, MediumRare. :)

If your new path to the audio files is longer than the original path, couldn't you move the files to a directory (or create one) with the same or shorter character length than the original path?

If you have CDRWIN, in the help file under Advanced Topics | How to write a CUE SHEET file, there is a complete list of Command Syntax. CDRWIN was the orginator of the BIN/CUE system, so this is a good source. If you don't have the program, you can download a trial copy at Golden Hawk Technology. The trial copy only works at 1x burning speed, and as most newer burners won't burn this slow any more it may not work. In any event, this is irrelevant for accessing the information in the help file.

There are also CUE sheet editors such as CDRCue Cuesheet Editor, which automate the process by using drag & drop, etc.. This is probably the simplest and most efficient way of writing CUE sheets.

Well actually I'm trying to get some structure in the files- that's why I'll be moving the audiovisual stuff onto the new drive (120 GB Maxtor) bit by bit and setting up a "reasonable" directory hierarchy as I go. These files are scattered wherever I found some room for them because I'm too lazy to rip the disks again when I need them.

Yes I got the help file tonight. There was a (somewhat old) PDF on the website too, but that did't have the command summary. The "abort an install and copy what you want from the temp-dir" trick didn't work so I had to wait till I got home to get the info.

I will try some of the other keywords available in the CD-Text generator and see what Nero does with them. That's one thing that RW's are for.

I had seen CDRCue Cuesheet Editor already, thank you.
