Trying to burn MP3's onto DVD -RW and +RW HELP!

I just bought a Pioneer DVD A06 DVD burner. The first thing I tried to burn is a few MP3's onto a DVD -RW and then a +RW using the latest version of Nero Express. It wouldn't let me saying that I had the wrong media and that I needed CD-R.

What's wrong? How do I burn MP3's to DVD -RW or +RW so that they play as MP3's on my DVD player?

Thanks.

You can't make an audio DVD. Have to use a CDR.

You might be able to make a data DVD with MP3s on it and play it back on your DVD player... assuming it has a built in decoder and supports MP3 playback from DVDs.

I was trying to make a data DVD. I didn't try an audio one. For some annoying reason it won't let me! It keeps telling me I have to use CD-R's...

Thanks for the tip though! I didn't know you couldn't make audio DVDs. Seems kind of short-sighted that you can't though...

Any other ideas what could be wrong?

Well, I just tried to burn some other file types (and folders) and stupid nero keeps telling me that I have to burn it all to CD-R and that I can't use DVD -RW or +RW. I didn't have any MP3 files this time. It's gotta be possible to backup data files to DVD!!!

What is going on? This is driving me nuts!!! :x

OK, I think I got it figured out. I played with some of the Nero speed tests and mysteriously I now have two Pioneer devices where before I had one. I now have one that is CD and one that is DVD. When I selected the DVD one, all was fine.

Annoying that this wasn't documented at all....

ROFL I didn't think of that. I initially had the same problem. Took me 15 minutes to figure it out.

You probably had your CD burner selected instead of the DVD which is why it wanted a CDR.

If you look on the bottom left, it'll show the selected device. Hit Control R to hop between them.

Actually it has three. One for my CD burner (a Yamaha) one for the Pioneer's built in CD burner and one for the Pioneer's DVD burner. Three selections for two devices. I was stumped too!

Well it'll be taken care of when Nero 6 is released.
