I was at a local Fry's Electronics last night, and i happened to pass the isle of cd burning softwares, and i found a bunch of Nero 6 Ultra Edition boxes already available for $99. It even includes a free Neato Cd labeling kit inside the box. I thought Nero was releasing this July 18... Hmmm, www.directdeals.com have the same item available, but it says "ships in 7-13 days".

LOL if that's true, where's my upgrade email?

I thought upgrade emails were supposed to be sent out before retail products.

Did you buy it?

I wish we had fry's here. Did you buy it?

Also, taxdevl,

Upgrade emails get sent out before the retail product, before July 18th. Fry's is not supposed to be selling it.

Yup I know... but if Fry's is selling it, it's obvious the product is complete. Might as well get it out there.

Offically Nero 6 Ultra Edition does not come out till July 18th. We did ship products to our Retail Stores, but they are not supposed to put them on the shelves till July 18th.

So far it looks like only Fry's in Los Angeles has put this on the shelves and we have asked them to remove it till July 18th, and they indicated they will. So a few of you may get this build sooner than others.

Regards,

Craig

Craig,

I should probably ask Jim this, but is Ahead planning on getting the media advanced copies? It would be great to get some reviews out there on (or before) the 18th.

We wish to hold off for the Release of Nero 6 Ultra Edition for the 18th for a few reason.
1) Web site is not ready for internet purchases
2) We need to corordinate the release so that all stores have Nero 6 available for sell at the same time
3) And we've already made a big announcement as to when Nero 6 will be available. :D

And yes, we have provided samples to many editors on our Nero 6 Ultra Edition software. The CeBit show in New York had our booth flooded non-stop with editors who were very impressed with what we had to show, and who all expressed that we should raise our price for the product and of course we refused :) , and we obtained information from each of them and sent them all samples of our Nero 6 Ultra Edition software for review.

We hope to see reviews on our Nero 6 software very soon. We are anxiously awaiting them just as you are.

Regards,

Craig

Bah... yknow it's always a good thing to exceed the expectations of your customers :P. Bugger the retail guys... that's the beauty of the internet, instant gratification.

Double bah... you guys must be waiting for the release of Bad Boys 2. :D

Just don't let that guy at the door look in your bag - I never do.

I absolutely resent it that they want treat me as a shoplifter. Let them call the cops - that's fine with me and the cops can pull me over on the street. But if those ex-burger flippers dare try to physically restrain me by touching me - well, my son-in-law is an attorney and we'll both enjoy splitting a tidy settlement.

Best Buy and Circuit City have it on the shelves in multiple states, might as well tell the guys to cut it loose.

Manuals are appearing on the web. If it's ready, time to let it go.

If you put your CRM hat on, it's the returning and upgrade customers you want to take care of, not new ones in the retail channel.

I believe that Ahead should be doing more to capitalize on this wave of publicity.

It's obvious there's a good demand for this product, just work it to your advantage.

How about a 4 hour give-a-way similar to what CdQuadrat did about 5 months ago with WinOnCD 5 P.E. ?

Now that would generate quite a buzz.

Just see here:

Fry's apparently has pulled off all Nero 6 UE packages off the shelves. Can we sue them for false advertising, i.e. product is not available and sale ads are all over the place? :D

ad

PostPosted: Fri Jul 11, 2003 3:41 pm
by chubz9
well, most of their ads usually say "limited on items in stock" or something... i don't know... but they should not do that... i would be so pissed prob, not buying it when i saw it... arrrgghhh... oh well, 1 week wait is not bad i think...

whishful thinking, Spaz...not a chance. :(
that happened when WinOnCD 6 was released.
would you really be interested in a 4 hour give-a-way of Nero 5.5 ?

My point is that if retailers are releasing the product in the channel already (even unintended), seems to me that Ahead should take care of exisitng customers since its already out there.

Bumping up release dates due to channel issues is something I've done before. You can still have the official launch, releasing ahead of time to upgrade customers won't take away from it or minimize the impact of the launch unless you are worried about the quality of the product. Although, based on the 2 previews I've read, that doesn't seem to be an issue.

If anything, releasing the upgrade to existing customers is a good thing because it not only makes them feel privileged for owning the previous product and getting it ahead of "new" customers, but it also serves as a good way to elicit feedback on the product and potentially address any issues (yes it does mean that we are guinea pigs) before the product has been fully launched.

I just purchased Nero 6 Ultra at Best Buy in New Hampshire ($99). The shelves were stocked full of it. I'm on travel for work up here, can't wait to get home and try it out. It did come with a Neato labeling kit, well, it came with 4 free labels and the cd label applicator anyway.

Got it at Best Buy....Matched Fry's Price
