What drive (brand and model) are you trying to burn with?

What media are you using?

CD=LiteOn LTR-52246
DVD=Panasonic LF-D521
Various media.

I've tried cd's in both, including a rewritable I used yesterday.

I was using 5.5.10.35, when I started having this problem I upgraded
to 5.5.10.42. Same problem.

Update: Nothing works on the lite-On. CD-R or CD-RW.
On the Panasonic CD-R, CD-RW & DVD-RW won't work.
On the Panasonic DVD-RAM Works.

That's strange. Could you try updating your IDE controller drivers?

Edit: Did this problem only occur after you installed B's 5?

I got that error as a result of updating to the newest Nforce 2 IDE drivers that look to XP like SCSI.

Rolled back to the Windows / Asus IDE drivers and all was fine.
