OEM Nero

I see these offered for $10.

Also, they are shown at the computer fair/swap meet for about the same price.

I thought that OEM versions of Ahead Nero were those that came bundled with the CD-RW drives and could be used only with those drives. But these are sold as working with any drive. I am wondering where they come from and how can they be sold for $10.

Perhaps they were bought at one time by "white box" builders to be installed on their machines (as is the OS).

not all OEM versions are restricted to a particular drive.
some are (almost) like the retail version.

the only difference i know of between a "real" retail version and an OEM version that isn't drive-specific is that the OEM doesn't have the anti-virus thingie.

now that Nero 6 is out, Nero 5.5 (especially OEM) will be dirt cheap.
they're probably trying to get rid of stock.

Nero that came with my CRW F1 won't let me do a couple things with my DVD burner.

Also, retail has better support.

If you're thinking about getting it and upgrading, just remember, you still have to pay $49 to get to Nero 6.
