Nero BackItUp 24x CDRW failure

Has anyone encountered this problem: Nero BackItUp won't write to 24x CDRW media? I've used it to backup to 10x CDRW and 2.4 and 4x DVD+RW just fine. But it doesn't seem to like 24x CDRWs.

Using the LTR-52327S and Samsung SM348B drives and Verbatim DataLifePlus 650 MB.

Are you able to write the same CD-RW using Nero ?

Yes, writing to that CD-RW with Nero is no problem.

dburg:

My answer to you was incorrect. I double-checked it, and Nero is not writing to these 24x CDRW discs either.

Sorry for my mistake.

What's the issue here then -- Nero's burning engine? I am using other programs to write to these discs (Drag-to-Disc and NTI Backup Now! Deluxe, for instance).

Thanks for your response.

Can you provide the log file of Nero on one of these failures?

I'll try to do that as soon as possible -- although I don't think BackItUp logs its processes, does it? I could provide you with a screen shot but I think you want something more substantial than that.

Thanks for your help.

I think a log file of a failure in Nero burning rom will help more.

Mr. Burg:

BackItUp does not generate logs, at least that I have seen. My Nero Burning ROM does not even RECOGNIZE 10x or 24x CDRW media, so I can't generate a log for you. "Disc info" does see that the discs are empty. I can send you screen shots but that's all, unless you have some other methods. Once again, the media do work in other programs.

Thanks for your help.

What happen when you create a dummy Iso compilation and attempt to burn it on these media?

In the "Burn" field, you cannot set the speed for the disc to be burned. It is blank, even when you click on expand field arrow on the right end of the field.

Is this clear? I can post a screen shot of it if that would help clarify.

Thanks again.

Mr. Burg:

Should I attempt to burn even though there is no speed indicated?

Hi Sandersk,

First, if you are writing to an Image file, there will be no speed selection. You only get a speed selection when writing to a Recorder.

And it would be best to use Nero Burning ROM to try and do a write to the 24x media, and save the Nero log file that it generates and forward it to me at techsupport4@nero.com so we can see what is going on.

Both Nero Burning ROM and Nero BackItUp use the same burn enginge, so if one fails the other should as well.

Regards,

Craig

No, I was not trying to burn an image file. I did have a physical recorder selected.

As I said, the speed selection field is blank, but I will try to burn a compilation anyway.

I'll get back to you, and thanks.

I will leave it to Craig who will better handle this issue as me (I'm only an InCD specialist ;-) ).

I have already sent Mr. Campbell the files he requested.

Thanks much for checking in.
