Nero 5.5 doesn´t allow me to burn CVCD bigger than 700 mb

I´m currently using Nero 5.5. to burn CVCD with mpeg-1 files, but the program doesn´t allow me to burn ANY CVCD if the mpeg-1 file is bigger than 700 mb.

I´m used to hear that with Nero you can burn a 735 mb file onto a 650 mb 74 min cd; and a 795 mb file onto a 700 mb (80 min cd).

But I¨m completely unable to make a mpg file bigger than just 700 mb fit into a 80 min cd. Nero 5.5 complains telling "this file doesn´t fit in this cd. Please insert another one".

I tick off the standard vcd mark just to get a CVCD (non-standard); but Nero tells me I must change the cd.

How can people be able to burn 795 mb mpeg1 on to a 700 mb using Nero?

Any suggestions welcome.

Thx in advance.

Just try to encode your video in tmpgEnc selecting Video CD (non standard) in the System tab of "setting" button.

Good luck!!

Because a VCD/SVCD format uses mode-2 or CD-ROM XA.

With mode-1 you have 700MB, sectors are 2048-byte plus error correction.
With mode-2 you have more MB because sectors are 2336-byte with any verification or error corection part.

Because players read data an play it doesn´t need to verify with error correction mechanisms, so CD-Audio works same way.
