Copy Error

Hi.
I have a Liteon LTR-48125W & a Pioneer DVD-105 in my system.
When I copy music cd's on the fly from the Pioneer to the Liteon drive the cd's fail to play half way through track four. I have swapped the Master & Slave settings around and altered recording speeds with no success. Software is Nero 5.5.10.54
Does anyone know why this is happening?

You seem to indicate this happens only when you copy from the Pioneer to the LiteOn Recorder. Is this True?

Does this mean that if you place the CD you wish to copy in the Lite-On Drive, and copy to the Pioneer, is the CD good?

Or if you use the Lite-On as both source and destination, does the CD come out good?

Regards,

Craig

The Pioneer is a ROM drive only. If I am burning from the hard drive it copies fine. Only fails when done 'on the fly' from Pioneer to Liteon CDRW and as I say it always fails on track 4 of an audio CD. Tracks 5,6,7,etc are fine.

perhaps the Pioneer DVD player cannot keep up ???
did you try lowering the burn speed ?

What happens if you rip the audio disc to your hard drive with the Pioneer and write it with your Lite-On (not on-the-fly)?

I have now tried Alcohol 120% and get the same error as well. It is starting to look to me like the Pioneer DVD-ROM drive might be buggered. When I rip a cd to my hard drive & then copy it, it works fine whether I use the Pioneer or Liteon as the source though. I have been burning on the fly at 16x 24x & 32x and the pioneer is supposed to read at 40x but I have just tested it with Nero CD Speed and it gets an average speed of 15.69x :-?
I don't understand why it always gets an error on track 4 though as all other tracks inc later ones are fine.
What do ya reckon?

I'm not sure why track 4 is having a problem, but it sounds like DMA isn't enabled. Go to the FAQ forum here at CDRLabs to learn how to enable DMA, and make sure DMA is enabled for all of your optical and hard drives.

suggestion 1: burn at a lower speed (i've already said this).

suggestion 2: play around with the IDE setup.
are both optical drives on the same IDE channel? if so, try placing them on separate channels (eg. Pioneer DVD-ROM as primary slave on the same channel as the hard drive, the Lite-On CDRW as secondary master).

you say it always fails on track 4 of the Audio CD.
is this the same CD every time, or it fails on track 4 of whatever CD you try?
if it's the same CD in all the test you've done so far, maybe it's the CD try another one.
