Bad InCD 4.1.0.0 Bug

When I save files to either of my drives: Plextor PX-708A (master on IDE 2) or Samsung SM-348B (Master on IDE 2)...I can with no problem...however after that...I can't shut down my machine or reboot. Go figure! I have to hard boot using my reset switch and then I can reboot using WinXP menu or shut down with no problem. I thought it might be me...so I tried it three more times...and each time I write to either drive...I try a shutdown after removing the disk from either drive and I hang on the blue screen that says Windows is Shutting Down. Then I removed 4.1.0.0 and reinstalled 4.0.7.2...the problem is gone...Anyone have any ideas or similar issues?

Thanks

Bob

I have an update...I resinstalled 4.0.7.2 and started having blue screen problems...so I kept at it. Seems that the problem that I am having is with Memorex CD-RW disks made by CMC. If I reinstall 4.1.0.0 and use my Mitsubishi Chemical 10X or 24X disks...no hanging or blue screens. 4.1.0.0 even works with my Plextor PX-708A...looks like CMC Magnetics loses out here..

Looks lijke an additional bit of info...the hang also happens with 4X media. Borh burners do 24X CD-RW and the media that hangs is now CMC and even Mitsubishi 4X CD-RW media.

So, you have 4.1.0.0 installed, a CD-RW inserted, write some files to the media, and you shutdown, but it froze?

Some additional questions:

- Did you format the CD-RW legacy or Mount Rainier?
- Do you receive any message about running format during shutdown, as yes/no dialog?

Hi Dave...

The CD-RW's were formatted legacy. Both my drives are Mount Ranier...but the drive in my Toshiba is not. To share files between machines I always format legacy.

No message about format during shut down. I can do the normal shutdown routine...and get the normal "saving settings" etc screens until I get the WinXP logo screen that says "Shutting down your computer' and it just hangs there...every single time. As a matter of fact...everything goes normally...I can compute for an hour after I work with InCD and then shut down fails and I have to do a hard boot. I get the same issue EVERY time I use 4X media...When I use 10X or 24X media...no problem. Maybe a bit of an overtweak for Ultra Media?

Is there anything else I can try for you to get more answers? Currently I will only be using 10X and 24X media...maybe time to retire the mini-cd's. I use the Memorex 256 MB and TDK 256 MB discs for travel purposes...but if they don't work...they don't work.

I will try to reproduce this problem, although I really wonder how media speed can have an impact on the code executed during shutdown. :-?

Could it be INCD is locked in that 100% kernel problem (see that forum subject)

Unfortunately I could not reproduce any of these 2 issues.
