LAME Encoder Registration

Hi all.

I'm running the latest v. Nero 6 Ultra on WinXP SP1, and I'll be darned if I can get Nero Express to recognize the new lame encoder. I know the install went okay, because I can find the .dll in the Ahead plugins folder, but for some reason it just doesn't show up on the options menu, so I can't register it.

Any Help Appreciated, BK.

PS Yes I've got a full registered legit copy.

On my machine, if I go into the "Encode files" (under Extras), and then drag over any audio file, I can select the Lame encoder. It then says to use it I need to register it (which requires your serial number), and it takes me to this link:

http://www.nero.com/us/mp3_registration ... ialnumber=

NOTE: I deleted my serial number from the end of the link, add yours!

Hope that helps...

Oh, and welcome to CDRLabs!!

Thanks for the post BurninMan921...I tried to use your registration page...didn't allow me to use your registration form. No way to put in a serial number....

Also...

I can decode Lame all the time...never being prompted to register...wish Dburg would see this post...

I think if you use your key as part of the initial registration, you don't need to register. Only thing I can think of that makes sense since I've never been prompted.

I'm guessing the 90 day clause is for people that haven't registered or are using a previous version... it's an upsell strategy to try to get them to pull the trigger, preferably before the end of the year. Always good to end with strong revenue.

*EDIT - NM, just pasted the SN# in and voila. Works fine.

Dear customer

Your "PowerPack Lame MP3 Encoder" serial number will then be sent to your e-mail address in the next days

Thank You!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Very clever workaround, indeed! And, no... the form will not accept a serial #. You have to copy the url, add your serial, and paste the url with the serial added... then you're taken to a page with the serial already entered for you.

Well... that's one problem solved. At least I got the registration done in time, to qualify. Unfortunately, no way, no how, is the darned encoder appearing yet. I did try the abovementioned method, but still nothing. The ogg encoder shows up every time, and works perfectly, but the lame is still invisible on my system...

Thanks Again...

One To Go... BK.

BK, do you use Nero 6 Ultra (US) or Nero 6 (non-US)?
according the the website the MP3 encoder is only for US. :( :x
http://www.nero.com/us/powerpack.html
Unlimited MP3 encoding and OGG vorbis encoding/decoding (only for US customers and requires online registration within 90 days)

It's Ultra, alright...

And the funny thing is, I'll probably hardly ever use the lame encoder anyway... I think two things bother me most about this. One is that when you pay a hundred bucks for a piece of software, you want it all to work.

And second is that if there are future upgrades, the new serial # might be required to unlock some of their features.

Oh, well... it wasn't until this latest upgrade, that InCD finally worked properly on my system... I guess some of these things just take time.

Thanks For Asking, BK.

You need to copy the link address to your browser window then add your serial number AFTER the '=' at the end of the link, so the full link would be something like this if your serial was 1234567890:

http://www.nero.com/us/mp3_registration ... 1234567890
